Freelance Dramaturgical Services

Hi there! If you are in need of some minor dramaturgical support to improve your play-producing process, please check out some of these freelance services that I provide. I have not yet published an official pricing model, as pricing would depend on the needs of the organization and demands of the project. However, it is safe to assume that my services will be affordable, especially for the right organization or the right project. It’s also worth noting that these are only a few of my available skills and services as a dramaturg.

if you are interested in a production dramaturg, script consultant, or one-sheet writer, please feel free to reach out and email: max.a.mccreary@gmail.com

Script Evaluations

Are you a resident dramaturg or literary manager looking for some remote season planning help? Are you a playwright looking to get a better idea of how your script is being evaluated by major regional Theatre? I will construct a detailed script evaluation. Ordinarily, I keep my summary and evaluations to under 300 words each, but you are more than welcome to set a different word count, if desired. Check out my portfolio to to see a sample Script Evaluation.

Playbill Articles

What would you like an audience to be thinking about before they see a play? Do you want to share a series of fun and uplifting facts, an enlightening exploration of genre, or maybe how the play connects to an important piece of local history? Playbill articles are a great way to get your audience members involved in the world of the play before the curtain even rises. They’re a great way to introduce people to the content, provide context “take” on the show, or continue to develop a personal relationship with the work. Check out my portfolio to see some examples of recent playbill articles.

Resource Packet

Are you producing a play with lots of unfamiliar information? Are looking to dive deeper into the world of the play? Using beautiful graphics, relevant articles, a detailed glossary, and easy-to-read layout, I will construct a resource packet specifically tailored to the needs of your organization, reading, or production. The process generally consists of four steps:

  1. Approval of Table of Contents and Glossary (2-3 days)

  2. Submission of first draft of packet (5-10 days)

  3. Discussion of revisions and approval of “additional resources” (45 min)

  4. Submission of final draft (3-5 days)
