Neeley Gossett - Teaching artist at Alliance Theatre and Co-founder of Found Stages Theatre Company

Emily Dickson - Acting Student

After our first week of working with him, we told the camp administration that having Max in our classrooms was our one “non-negotiable” for the summer.

Of all the directors I've worked with, Max McCreary stands out as one of the best. Max gets you so into your characters that I would leave rehearsals mentally exhausted, but strangely at peace, as if, instead of rehearsal, I had just finished meditation. Max encourages you to get in touch with your body as an actor and does a fantastic job of getting you there through various movement exercises. Most importantly, Max treats you as an equal in the artistic process, and the resulting collaboration has resulted in some of my proudest work as an actor.

Julia Byrne - Colleague and Actor in Iphigenia and Other Daughters

Max is a very thoughtful director. He put a lot of consideration into every word he says, from describing the world of the play that I was inhabiting, to the best way to communicate his impressions of characters, to understanding how I viewed the character I was playing.

Kayla Fallick - Actor in Phantasmagoria

When I first encountered Phantasmagoria, I knew Max McCreary was special. My belief in this has only grown through my work with him. I was lucky enough to be a part of the first full production of Phantasmagoria (playing the role of Fanny Imlay), and got to experience a taste of Max's creative process. His ability to work with his scripts as living documents and his eagerness to work with everyone around him to create the best possible product is unparalleled by anyone I have worked with. I have no doubt that he's going to do big things. This is just the beginning.
